Sweatshop Overlord

 played by TBA
A humorous and moving performance piece detailing how the author became the founder of a homemade face mask operation in the early months of the COVID epidemic. On Day 3 of the COVID-19 pandemic, NYTW Usual Suspect Kristina Wong began sewing masks out of old bedsheets and bra straps on her Hello Kitty sewing machine. Before long, she was leading the Auntie Sewing Squad, a work-from-home sweatshop of hundreds of volunteers — including children and her own mother — to fix the U.S. public health care system while in quarantine. It was a feminist care utopia forming in the midst of crisis. Or was it a mutual aid doomsday cult? (Pulitzer Prize, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics awards amongst others).

The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe

played by Kudra Owens

Exploring the human condition and modern society through the eyes of Trudy, a bag lady par excellence, who claims to be in contact with aliens. Trudy acts as a guide, introducing various characters to the audience whose lives intertwine, each offering a unique perspective on life’s absurdities and struggles, and the quest for meaning in an often chaotic world. This is a comical, quirky, and outlandish conveyance of the nuances of the American-influenced world as we know it. (Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics' Circle Awards).

Shirley Valentine

played by Bronwyn Mertz-Penzinger
Shirley is wondering what has happened to her youth; she’s in a rut, her family treats her like a servant, her husband is emotionally distant, and she catches herself regularly alone, talking to the wall, in her kitchen. When her best friend wins a competition for two to Greece, she packs her bags and, leaving a note on a door, goes with her. What happens in Greece, stays in Greece, or does it? A play about self-discovery and finding (new) joy in life. (Drama Desk, Laurence Olivier, and Theatre World Awards amongst others).
